Sec 107, Noida: A ‘happy’ homebuyers’ protest?

Homebuyers of Amrapali Heart Beat City, a stalled group housing project in Sector 107, Noida, staged a different kind of protest at the construction site on May 28.

Instead of expressing anger over the delay in project completion, they staged a “happy” protest. They called themselves happier beings of the stalled project and played a game of passing a ball at the site. The game aimed to send the message of how the homebuyers were being tossed between the builders and Noida Authority.

They also tried to reach out to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. They said that just like the PM's Mann ki baaat, a radio programme in which the PM talks to the nation, they wanted him to listen to their “mann ki baat.”

Buyers put forth the demand to restart the construction on the sites. The work has been pending for the past four years.  Punit Prasar, a buyer, said that in the absence of a clear delivery schedule from the developers, buyers have been under deep stress.

He said that the homebuyers have demanded a firm and clear residential tower-wise completion and possession schedule as several promises by builders have proven to be false.

"We don't want any more assurances from any one. All we want is a concrete solution to our problem," he added.
