Residents crying foul over the unhygienic state of streets near their residential complexes or sectors may soon get some relief as Noida Authority has come up with an idea to solve the issue. The Authority is set to table a proposal under which resident bodies across the city will be given compost machines to dispose garbage.

While revealing details of the proposal during a workshop over the issues of air pollution held at Indira Gandhi Kala Kendra, Sector 6, Noida, Amit Mohan Prasad, chief executive officer of the Authority, said that the proposal would be tabled in the upcoming board meeting of Noida Authority scheduled on June 2.

He said that under the proposal, it has been planned that the Authority would extend financial support to residents’ welfare associations in the city for procuring the compost machines. Though how much support the Authority would extend would be decided in the board meeting. But it is expected that it may bear about 75 per cent of the cost of a compost machine. He said, "If the cost of machine goes up to Rs 2 lakh per machine, the Authority may give them subsidy of Rs 1.5 lakh."

He also said that RWAs would be assigned with the responsibility of maintaining parks in the sectors and that they would be given a contract for the same. They would be also asked to use the manure for nurturing plants and the grass present in those parks that have been handed over to them for upkeep.
