South City I RWA organises property tax camp for residents. Now that's helpful!

The RWA of South City I, in collaboration with Municipal Corporation of Gurugram’s (MCG) tax department, organised a property-tax camp in the society yesterday.

The camp was attended by 65 residents, of which 20 paid their taxes on the spot. Tax-related complaints of another 20 residents were also addressed at the camp.

OP Sharma, the RWA treasurer, Gulshan Saluja, zonal taxation officer, and Uday Singh Joon, Inspector (Tax), ensured that the camp was run smoothly.

"The idea behind the camp was to make the payment procedure easy, so that maximum people deposit their taxes. The camp was surely a success,"  said Sharma.

According to YS Gupta, the MCG joint commissioner, “MCG is working towards solving the property-tax-related problems faced by residents. We have asked the RWAs to organise camps in their societies. We are willing to cooperate, and the RWAs have also been supportive."

He further added that no interest would be charged from people who deposited their property tax by June 15.

"It is a good initiative," said Tilak Mehta, a resident. “As none of us have time, such camps will ensure that most residents clear their dues. Moreover, as the RWAs paying 80 per cent or more of its property tax will receive a reward of Rs 5 lakh, even they are enthused. It's been ages that the builder has carried out any maintenance work in the colony."
