The diversion at Signature Tower
With underpass and flyover work going full throttle in Gurgaon, various traffic diversions have been put in place that commuters and residents now need to follow.
One of the main intersections, the Signature Tower — where a crucial underpass is under construction — has closed movement of vehicles from Huda City Center towards Sector 14. The commuters will now have to take a compulsory left till the U-turn from Sector 31 and travel back towards Sector 14, adding an extra 2 km of travel.
A commuter Pragyan Jain said, “I work in Sector 44 and travel daily to Sector 14. This diversion will certainly delay my reaching home.”
For commuters travelling from Sector 31 towards Sector 29, the right turn has been closed down. Vehicles will now need to take a compulsory left turn towards Maharana Pratap Chowk and come back to Sector 29 — again, increasing travel by 2 km.
For Anita Khullar, a resident of Sector 15, who travels to Sector 29 to her office, the diversion is a nightmare. She said, “I hope this situation won’t last for too long.”
Speaking to City Spidey, Raj Kumar, road safety officer, said, “The diversions will remain in place for at least 40 days. Due to stringent timelines, we had to take the measures immediately.”
The diversions have been made effective since Saturday evening. While the weekend didn’t witness any major difficulties, weekdays are expected to get quite chaotic.
