Gurgaon DLF5: How the sanctuary came alive on June 5

To celebrate World Environment Day (June 5), a nature-themed event was organised at The Sanctuary, a sprawling green area overlooking The Aralias and The Magnolias condominiums of DLF5, on Monday.

This year’s theme: Connecting People to Nature. Saplings of jacaranda mimosifolia (blue gulmohur), bauhinia acuminata (white orchid tree) and pterospermum acerifolium (kanak champa) were planted at various areas.

There were other exciting events as well — a photography corner, a graffiti wall and pottery making.  At the photography corner, participants could get their pictures printed and framed on the spot, to be taken back as perfect souvenirs.

The participants were taken on a quick tour of The Sanctuary, and were given a brief description of the trees in the area and the birds that migrate there.

Aakash Ohri, senior executive director, DLF5, said, “Our commitment to providing our residents with a cleaner and greener environment is categorically demonstrated through our facilities, such as a sewage treatment plant and a set up to convert waste into manure.”

He further added, “A dedicated team of horticultural experts and support staff is the backbone of the verdant green surroundings at DLF5 and Golf Course — and their endeavours are reflected in the vast green cover.”
