To celebrate June 5, Noida traffic department — with support from OLA cabs — organised an awareness drive for commuters at four major intersections. And, traffic violators, instead of being challaned, were given tulsi plants.

On the occasion of World Environment Day, Noida traffic department — in collaboration with OLA cabs — organised an awareness drive for commuters.

This initiative was conducted at four intersections, including Gol Chakkar traffic light near Sector 15 Metro station, Noida Stadium in Sector 21A, Spice Mall in Sector 25A and Degree College near City Centre Metro Station.

Layak Singh, traffic inspector, Noida, told City Spidey that traffic violators instead of being challaned were given tulsi plants.

The violators were also made aware of traffic rules.

“We encourage people to use car pools, as it will bring down congestion in the city and also help reduce vehicular pollution,” Singh added.

Rakesh Singh, a commuter, said “Car pooling is a good way to reduce traffic and I, too, have tried it with my friends. But since our job timings didn’t match, we had to drop the idea.”
