Dwarka: SDMC's gift to Skylark Apts on World Environment Day

On World Environment Day, Skylark Apartments in Sector 6, Dwarka, became the first society to receive dustbins from South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC). The green and blue dustbins were given to the society by Kamaljeet Sehrawat, the SDMC mayor.

According to the society's managing committee, each household received one green and one blue dustbin.

While giving away the dustbins, Sehrawat said the initiative was part of the Swachh Bharat campaign. She stressed the importance of waste segregation and assured to extend any support that residents needed from the corporation.

"We are honoured to have been selected by the mayor for this initiative," said Colonel Sunil Dubey, president of the society's managing committee. "We will give our best to make this waste-management project a success. Now that they have separate dustbins, waste segregation will not be a challenge."

"We had also requested the mayor for bigger dustbins to collect the society's entire waste. She has assured us that we will receive them within a month," added Colonel Dubey.

"We are proud to be the first society to have received dustbins for waste segregation," said Rajesh Arora, secretary of the society's managing committee. "It is an ambitious project and we have to put in our best efforts to make it a success."
