Noida Authority opens closed gate in Sec 61; RWA launches protests

Noida Authority's enforcement team on Saturday opened the entry gate that had been locked by the RWA of Sector 61. Residents of Prateek Fedora, a posh residential society in the sector opposite which the gate lies, had lodged a complaint with the Authority against the RWA for locking the gate about two weeks back.

After the Authority opened the gate, they were met with resistance from the Sector 61 RWA, who had claimed to have closed the gate for security purposes. They thronged at the gate to protest against the move. As a part of the protest, members of the RWA also opened all the other gates that had been kept closed.

Virendra Singh, president of the RWA, said, "From now on, we will hold the Authority officials responsible in case of thefts in our sector. They have not consulted us before taking this action. We had kept the gate cosed to ensure the safety of residents."

According to a source in Noida authority, there is an order by the Allahabad High Court that says roads of a sector are to be kept open for all. "It had to be opened to enforce the court order," said the source.
