Why reaching Delhi will be a breeze from April

The newly constructed road from the Hindon barrage to the Ghazipur signal will be open to the public by the first week of April.

DK Sharma, junior engineer, Irrigation Department, said that the 10-km stretch has been constructed by the Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA).

The total cost of construction was Rs 10 crore, of which Rs 4 crore was given by the GDA, and the rest by the Irrigation Department.

The road was constructed in two phases — the first was from the Kanauni bridge to Vaishali Sector 6, and the second from Vaishali to the Ghazipur signal.

Alok Kumar, president of FedAOA, told City Spidey that the road would benefit many residents in the area. "It takes us a lot of time to reach Delhi via NH24. The new road will make it much quicker," he said.

The road, which is meant only for light motor vehicles, can also be used by commuters going to Noida and Ghaziabad. Heavy traffic and commercial vehicles will not be allowed to ply on this.
