Members, set to meet GDA vice-chairman tomorrow, have demanded a set of guidelines to put an end to this business.

FedAOA takes up cudgels against PGs in residential societies

Keeping in mind the repeated fracas owing to paying guest accommodations, Federation of AOAs (FedAOA), the apex body of AOAs in Ghaziabad, has urged Ghaziabad Development Authority to bar PGs in residential societies.

FedAOA has raised demands for a set of well-defined guidelines putting an end to the business of PG accommodations in residential societies.

Speaking to City Spidey, residents complained that PGs often caused a ruckus on the premises, disrupting the calm of societies.

An AOA member said, “They don’t adhere to the guidelines of the society, nor do they entertain any request from their neighbours. In fact, many a time, the AOA doesn’t even know the PG residents — or the people who visit them. In the case of any untoward incident, nobody can be held responsible.”

Speaking to City Spidey, Alok Kumar, patron of FedAOA, said Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA) had earlier issued notices to several societies about PG accommodations. The officials, he maintained, had also said that PGs in residential complexes were illegal, but such a mild step wasn’t enough to solve the problem.

“We need a proper set of guidelines that can be displayed at the entry gates or the maintenance office of societies. Almost all the societies face this problem. We have prepared 13 points regarding PGs and various other issues that we’ll present to the GDA vice-chairman.”

FedAOA members plan to meet the vice-chairman tomorrow.
