Dwarka: CGHS federation puts civic woes on government radar

Dwarka’s Federation of Cooperative Group Housing Societies (FCGHS) has been relentless in its pursuit for better living conditions. They have been writing about issues such as sanitation, infrastructure and other matters of common concern.

FCGHS general secretary Sudha Sinha said, "We want development in Dwarka, and we are following up with all concerned authorities, including Delhi Development Authority [DDA], BSES, South Delhi Municipal Corporation [SDMC] and others. The sanitation conditions of the sub-city need to be improved while infrastructure has to be developed as well. We met the deputy commissioner of SDMC and also the vice-chairman of DDA. We gave them a list of issues to work on.”

Members of the federation are also active on various WhatsApp group, through which they send spot pictures to various authorities.

FCGHS secretary V Selvarajan, also a resident of Diamond Square Apartments in Sector 6, said, "We are focussed on sanitation issues and have taken up the matter with the SDMC. We’re working to have open burning of leaves completely stopped. It’s a very serious problem."

IM Khanna, organising secretary of the federation — and a resident of New Jai Bharat Apartments of Sector 4 — said, "During our talks with the SDMC deputy commissioner and DDA vice-chairman, we urged them to visit Dwarka and interact with the people to get a feel of the ground reality."
