Commuters look forward to third underpass on Golf Course Road

Golf Course Road in Gurgaon has seen massive infrastructural developments in the last two years. Two underpasses have already eased traffic flow and now commuters are awaiting a third one that will further make life easy for G-towners.

Shivani Ahuja, resident of DLF Phase I, told City Spidey, “I am looking forward to a third underpass for sure. Those who don’t have their offices on Golf Course Road can just take the underpasses and avoid the rush. I also think there should be better lighting in the underpasses.”

The construction work on the road may have irked commuters but the two underpasses, opened on trial basis, have proved their worth. More than one lakh vehicles pass through Golf Course Road daily and hence the underpasses were required.

“Underpasses are useful in regulating traffic. There is smoother and faster movement of traffic. We can make them better by putting signage before the underpass so that people keep to the right or left as per the direction they want to go,” said Raj Kumar Yadav, road safety officer.

“It used to take me 45 minutes to cross the Gold Course Road earlier. However, the travel time has reduced by almost 15 minutes,” said Preyansh Aggarwal, a resident who works with a multinational company on Golf Course Road.

Speaking to City Spidey about the status of the third underpass, Yashpal Yadav, Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA) administrator, said, “The contractor has to complete this underpass by June 30. We are aiming for this and whether or not the deadline is met remains to be seen.”
