Gurgaon, Sector 28: Waterlogged at the first sight of rains

A 60-m defunct drainage stretch in Sector 43 doesn't allow the water in Sector 28 to drain out, waterlogging the streets completely.

Gurgaon, Sector 28: Waterlogged at the first sight of rains

Residents of Gurgaon’s Sector 28 woke up to waterlogged lanes today. The reason: A 60-m defunct drainage stretch in Sector 43, which doesn't allow the water in Sector 28 to drain out.

“Our streets are full of water. There are so many pits, making it dangerous for two-wheelers,” complained Rajbir Yadav, a resident.

Dr Geetu Jaidka, another resident, added, “I could not negotiate the stretch even in my car. It was very difficult driving in all this water.”

The residents allege the drainage pipes at quite a few places are either leaking or broken.

“The authorities haven’t bothered to repair or clean the pipes,” complained Dr Rohit Khurana, a resident.

Speaking on the issue, Bhoop Singh, executive engineer, HUDA, said, “The authorities are aware of the 60-m stretch. We will resolve the issue as soon as possible.”

Residents, however, remain unconvinced.
