FONRWA meeting descends into chaos

The annual general meeting of FONRWA was disrupted by members who raised their voice against the federation’s apparent diversion from the mission "to make Noida a better place to live in". The meeting, held at the Sector 52 community centre, saw the attendance of representatives from several RWAs.

The meeting started on a peaceful note, but soon degenerated into chaos. Dissatisfied with the federation's shoddy performance over the past six months, Sector 20 RWA president Pyare Lal Yadav alleged that the attention of the federation was being diverted from real RWA issues.

“Cases of chain snatching, robbery and theft are rampant across the city, but FONRWA is busy holding meetings with the UP Police top brass. Is this the solution to the problem?” he said. He added that it would have been better if the federation had mounted pressure on the Senior Superintendent of Police, Noida, to nab criminals and improve law and order in the city. Yadav’s comments led to a heated exchange between FONRWA officials; others had to intervene to bring the situation under control.

Vimal Sharma, the Sector 50 RWA president, echoed similar sentiments as Yadav. “What has federation achieved from the numerous meetings it has held? RWA issues. such as control of aggressive stray dogs, still remain. Nothing has changed in the past six months, since the new executive body of the federation was sworn in in 2015,” he said.

FONRWA vice-president Anju Pachaury, supported by a number of other members, demanded the expulsion of Yadav. Yadav’s federation membership was cancelled and he was expelled from the federation for a year.

Speaking to City Spidey, FONRWA President NP Singh said, “Disciplinary action has been taken against Yadav, as he violated the federation rules. Problems and concerns could have been discussed peacefully as well. Three or four members attended the meeting with a view to disrupt the proceedings, and that's what they did.”
