The Noida, Greater Noida and Yamuna Expressway authorities conducted an open house today at the Amity University hall in Sector 125 to redress public grievances.

GB Nagar MP and Union Minister of State for Tourism and Culture Mahesh Sharma chaired the meeting.

MLAs from Noida, Dadri and Jewar took part in the meeting, in which RWAs, homebuyers and social workers from across the district came together to put forth their issues.

The RWAs mainly spoke of cleaning of drains ahead of monsoons and construction of boundary walls of various sectors. Members of FONRWA (Federation of Noida RWAs) brought attention to the fact that crime in GB Nagar is on the rise. They cited lack of police patrolling as the main reason. They demanded that the government should increase the police force in the district, and provide essential gadgets to them for more effective policing.

They also demanded that Noida Authority put up gates in all the sectors and also install CCTV cameras across the city.

AN Dhawan, FONRWA secretary, brought attention to yet another pressing problem of the city  — unmanageable traffic. He said,   “The strength of the traffic police is not sufficient to manage the jams in Noida.”

Buyers, too, had their concerns.

They complained that tri-party meetings between Authority officials, realtors and homeowners failed to have any impact, as the officials were unable to take a tough stand against the builders. They urged the minister to mount pressure on the builders to speed up delivery of flats.

Rashesh Purohit, co-founder of NCR Home Buyers’ Group, told City Spidey: “We want the minister to open a tribunal of RERA or Real Estate Regulatory Authority in GB Nagar, as most flat buyers belong to this region.”

Mahesh Shrama assured the buyers that he would soon arrange an open-house meeting only for buyers. “I have heard all your problems, and I will raise these issues with the concerned authorities and the state government,” he stressed.
