The early-morning showers did nothing to deter residents of the NCR... Here are a few snapshots from across the region.
The NCR thronged parks and public squares to mark the third International Yoga Day.
Light showers in the morning did not deter residents, as all parks in residential areas were chock-a-block with both the young and the old. Residents in societies where the rains had rendered the parks unfit for a yoga session took to the community centres.
Here's the scene from various parts of the NCR:
DELHI
The central park in Connaught Place was teeming with people. Delhi Metro Rail Corporation had closed entry and exit at Rajeev Chowk Metro station from 5.30 am to 7.30 am.
The Municipal Corporation of Delhi organised several yoga sessions across the city. North Delhi Municipal Corporation organised its event at Ajmal Khan Park, while South
"It was great to see so many people turn up for the session," said Manjari Joshi, a yoga teacher
As for Dwarka, it was as if it had been waiting for this day. The sub-city’s parks had been chock-a-block for the past month or so, with people gearing up for International Yoga Day. And the day had finally come.
There were several yoga events organised across Dwarka — from the large-scale ones organised by DDA, in association with Patanjali Yog Samiti (in sectors 11, 17 and 23) to the small-scale, more tight-knit ones organised by residents and members of Federation of RWAs of Sector 9 (FORWAS) at the Sector 9 DDA park. Despite the early-morning showers, residents across all age groups thronged Dwarka’s parks, with yoga mats and infectious smiles.
Here are a few glimpses from Dwarka:
AGE IS BUT A NUMBER: Kids? Check. Adults? Check. Senior citizens? Check. Sector 9 was an enthusiastic bunch

GURGAON
Gurgaon has been braving rains, waterlogged roads and heavy traffic congestion. But none of that mattered today. When Gurgaon wants to do something, it does!
There was a massive yoga session organised at the Tau Devi Lal Stadium. Children and youngsters from various government schools and colleges were present at the event, lending the place a palpable energy.
The scene at Cyber Hub, however, was quite distinct. A place that’s usually bustling was unusually quiet, as people kicked off the event with meditation.
Residents of several societies such as Uniworld Garden, Fresco and South City II fought the urge to loll in bed to enjoy the lovely weather and attended yoga camps to mark the event. South City II residents spanning all age groups took part in the event, which was organised at Gems Modern Academy in South City II.
