Residents and officials team up for a better Dwarka

Residents and civic authorities have joined hands for the development of Dwarka.

CGHS (Cooperative Group Housing Society), DDA pockets, and civic authorities such as DDA and BSES held a meeting on Sunday to discuss roadblocks to the sub-city's development and ways they could be resolved. The meeting was held at Badhwar Apartments in Sector 6 and was organised by Federation of CGHS, Dwarka.

According to Sudha Sinha, general secretary of the federation, the objective of the meeting was to bring the residents and the authorities together to work for better infrastructure. “Residents from across Dwarka interacted with the DDA and BSES representatives. They apprised the officials of issues in their respective areas,” said Sinha.

According to Sinha, such meetings will now be organised on a regular basis to bridge the gap between authorities and residents. “We have planned a series of meetings with various civic bodies," she said. "Next Sunday we will be meeting officials of Delhi Jal Board [DJB] at Param Puneet Apartments in Sector 6, at 11 am.”

Issues such as subsidy on society electricity bills up to 400 units, inadequacy of street lights and maintenance of parks and roads were highlighted at the meeting. Officials of both BSES and DDA assured speedy resolution of existing issues. Residents suggested recognising societies that have consistently contributed to energy conservation.

RK Verma, NK Gupta, Anil Suri and Ravi Rajpal from BSES; PC Bariwa (EE Civil), KP Sharma (Assistant Director, Horticulture) and Ved Prakash (AE Electrical) from DDA were also present at the meeting.
