Preliminary investigation suggests a natural death.
An 82-year-old retired army official was found dead in his house in Sector 37, Noida, this morning. He was identified as Ret Col KBN Manocha.
He was reportedly staying alone in the house. The police received a call around 10 am from a neighbour, who complained of a foul smell from the house.
According to Abhinandan, circle officer of Noida police, when the police reached the spot, the door of his house was found ajar and the body on the bed.
Preliminary investigation suggests a natural death. Even then, the police wanted to send the body for post mortem. However, family members did not allow this.
According to neighbours, the deceased was living alone for the past 30 months after the death of his wife. He had two sons, but both lived outside Noida.
Anil Yadav, a neighbour, told City Spidey that he used to go to the park every morning but had not been seen the past two days. "This morning, neighbours sensed a foul smell coming from his home. People knocked on his door several times but got no response. They then broke open the door. He was found dead, so we called in the cops," he added.
