Women residents take the lead in spreading awareness about environmental issues, with active participation of children in the song, dance, music and art programmes and competitions.
Palam Courts Apartments in Sector 19B of Dwaraka hosted an environment awareness campaign held by Association of Neighbourhood Ladies Get-together (ANHLGT) as part of the environment awareness month on Sunday.
Two prominent residents of the apartments, Nisha Sood and Suresh Kumar, helped the association organize a series of events, designed for the children and bring them up to date on environment issues in a fun-filled manner.
There were many activities for the children – drawing competition, elocution, singing, crafts competition and the like. Ladies and children participated in all the activities with great enthusiasm. A visibly happy Nisha Sood said, "Children were at their creative best in translating environment themes in works of art that highlighted concerns of the community. It was a successful event and everybody enjoyed it."
Winners of the different competitions were given prizes by the president of ANHLGT, Cicily Kudian. She later told City Spidey, “we organized a series of environment awareness programmes over the month. In June 12 programmes were held in which hundreds of people participated. Involving the entire community was our aim and we are glad we achieved it.”
She further said, ANHLGT had been making efforts for development and welfare in Dwarka for a long time. "We work on social issues and try and make the community responsible and responsive. This is our concept,” she added.
