The Nile in Sector 49, Gurgaon, too, has joined the green bandwagon. To conserve power, the condominium has replaced all old light fittings with LED ones in various parts of the condominium.

Spread over 9.5 acres, The Nile houses 400 families.

Almost 1,400 LED lights have been installed in all common areas, including the corridor, underground parking, the central park and the pathways. The next step would be to replace over 100 streetlights in the condominium.

“The amount of power utilised by a 100-watt bulb is equal to a 10-watt LED bulb. Hence, they save 70-80 per cent power,” explained DK Khare, former RWA president.

Speaking to City Spidey, Air Vice-Marshal AK Singh VSM said, “Earlier, we had 50-watt bulbs, which were replaced by 7-10 watt CFL lights. Finally, they have been replaced by 6-watt LED lights. The illumination has doubled, and we are saving approximately 25 units of electricity every day.”

He further added, “In the basement, 300 40-watt tubelights have been replaced by 18-watt LED ones.”
