Lotus Boulevard, Noida: Ceiling plaster collapses on dinner table

Six members of a family residing in Lotus Boulevard in Sector 100, Noida, narrowly escaped getting seriously injured after a portion of the ceiling plaster fell on them. Only one of them sustained minor injuries to the head.

The incident took place last night, when the family was having dinner in their drawing-dining room.

Flat owner Manish Kapoor told City Spidey that around 9 pm all family members were at the dinner table, when a large portion of the ceiling plaster right overhead came off. “Thankfully, my children are safe and I just have some small injuries on my head that are not serious. I am amazed that the developer could have used such poor-quality construction material,” he added.

Lotus Boulevard is only recently built, and the Kapoors had just moved in last year.

Immediately after the incident, Kapoor called up the builder’s maintenance department, but was surprised with the response. He was told to wait till the next morning for any help to arrive.

Livid, Kapoor then went to the Sector 39 police station and lodged a complaint against the builder.

Manya, Kapoor’s wife, holds Noida Authority equally responsible for the incident. She angrily remarked, “How could the Authority issue a completion certificate and an occupancy certificate without even conducting a quality check on the construction? And 800 families have already moved in!”

An officer at the Sector 39 police station confirmed to City Spidey that they had received a complaint from Manish Kapoor. He added, “An investigation has started and an FIR will be lodged against the builder only after a thorough assessment.”
