The open drain between Supertech Capetown and Grand Ajnara Heritage has become a cause of concern, especially with the rains around. But is Noida Authority listening?

Something needs to be done about this choked drain in Sec 74, Noida

Residents of Sector 74 have lodged several complaints with Noida Authority about a choked open drain between Supertech Capetown and Grand Ajnara Heritage for the past one month. The Authority, however, has not taken any step to solve the problem.

Residents of both the societies said the drain overflows every monsoon.

Dhanajay Kumar, a resident of Grand Ajnara Heritage, told City Spidey that schoolchildren have to wait for their bus near the drain and hence was a major health concern. “The drain has become a breeding ground for mosquitoes. Every year, during monsoons, several cases of dengue and chikungunya are reported from both the societies. We fear the same this year too."

When City Spidey contacted RS Yadav, project engineer of Noida Authority, he said the drain was cleaned by them a few days ago but the problem still persists as it is not connected to any other drain, causing water to be stagnated time and again. "We will get the drain cleaned soon," said Yadav. "The connection of drains in the sectors 74,75, 76, 77 and 78 is yet to be completed. The work will start soon."
