The city's police has organised a meeting with the residents to encourage public participation in policing.
Ghaziabad police has set up a meeting between local police and the residents of the Indirapuram, a Ghaziabad township, to encourage public participation in policing. The meeting will be held at 11 am this Sunday. It will take place at the Federation of AOAs office in Arihant Harmony, Indirapuram.
The initiative has been dubbed 'Police at your doorstep'. FedAOA members urged residents of various societies to attend the meeting with a list of issues faced by them. They were also encouraged to present solutions for the existing issues.
Speaking to City Spidey, members of FedAOA said they wanted such meetings to become a regular affair. They said the meetings could be held on weekends, with the venue being a different society each time. Residents planning to attend the meeting have also been asked to carry a list of abandoned vehicles they might have seen lying around in their neighborhoods or within the society premises.
The scheduled meeting is to be attended by the Circle Officer of the zone, SO of Indirapuram police station, along with in-charges of local police force.
The FedAOA had earlier planned such regular meetings in December last year, but these meetings could not become a regular affair owing to transfer of officials and the assembly elections.
Speaking to City Spidey, Alok Kumar, the patron of FedAOA, said it is the first time that the police has taken the initiative to encourage public participation. “It is great that the new SP City is putting in efforts to connect with the residents," said Kumar. "Residents have been waiting for an initiative like this for a long time and it will definitely improve local policing and bridge the gap between residents and police.” Kumar further said that various issues pertaining to implementation of law and order such as verification of tenants and staffs will be discussed at the meeting.
Speaking to City Spidey, Sushil Kumar Dubey, SO of Indirapuram police station, confirmed that meetings with various residents associations have been scheduled for the weekend. “We have planned and scheduled meetings with Federations of AOAs in Indirapuram and KARWA, a residents association in Kaushambi,” Dubey added.
