Dwarka, Sector 8: What happened to the water bills, DJB?

The bills have not been generated since 2015... does the DJB expect the residents pay up all at once!

Dwarka, Sector 8: What happened to the water bills, DJB?

RWA of Sector 8, Dwarka, has been since long demanding the water bills for the area from Delhi Jal Board (DJB). It claims that the DJB has not generated the bills since 2015. Residents fear they would be asked to pay up for the last two years at one go, and it would be difficult for most to cough up such a huge amount.

RWA general secretary Arvinder Singh Chatwal said, “Operation and maintenance of water supply and sewerage services of Dwarka was transferred from the DDA to DJB in March 2015. And the last bill received by the residents from DDA was March 2015. It has been more than two years now, the DJB has not issued water supply bills to residents of Sector 8. Our sector has plots and independent homes. Apartments and DDA pockets have been distributed the bills, but it seems plotted areas of the sub-city have not been handed out the same.”

The RWA has been writing on the subject to the DJB and has also raised the issue during meetings with officials, but nothing has been done thus far. “The RWA has written several letters to the DJB in this regard. But our all efforts have had no results so far,” complained Chatwal.

“We don’t want a sudden financial burden. But if the DJB does not issue the bills regularly, that’s bound to happen. We request DJB officials to pay heed to the matter, and do the needful at the earliest,” said P Bhel, RWA vice-president.

On the subject, DJB zonal revenue officer, Vijay Laxmi, said, “The DJB has generated the bills for the sector — the bills were sent recently in June. If they haven’t received the bills yet, they should contact the office. I will check with my officials.”
