Maid held captive by society guards had the relatives of the maid and other domestic helps pelting stones at the guards leading to a clash so full blown that the police had to be called in.
In a rather riotous incident today, maids and security guards of Mahagun Moderne, an apartment complex in Sector 78, Noida, pelted stones at each other at the society gate. According to sources, the entire incident unfolded after family members and neighbours of a maid came to know that she was being held captive and beaten up by the security guards of the society. The maid has been identified as Zohra, whose relatives alleged that she had visited the society for work two days back and not returned home since then.
Ravi, Zohra's relative, said that when he inquired about her whereabouts at the society, he was told that she had escaped after stealing Rs 5,000 from a flat. However, Anita, another maid who used to work with Zohra, said she was being held captive in the society by the guards. Discussing the issue among themselves, the maids came to the conclusion that Zohra was still inside the society, as one of the maids had last seen her there.
When relatives and neighbours reached the society and started mounting pressure on the security guards, they brought her out and left her with them. She was unconscious. When Zohra's relatives approached the guards and demanded an explanation, they responded with rebukes and beatings.

Following the assault, the maids and Zohra's relatives congregated at the gate and started pelting stones at the guards. The guards started throwing back rocks at them.

However, the society's managing committee remained tight-lipped about restraining the maid in the society and the following clash.
Heavy police force has been deployed at the site to take control of the situation and avoid further clashes. The pelting has now stopped. It was brought under control after police involvement.
Arun Kumar, SP City, said the whole matter was being investigated and strict action would be taken against those who were found guilty.
