Sec 73, Noida: What a nightmare of a road!

A Z-shaped road near Yadu Public School in Sector 73, Noida, has been the cause of inconvenience for commuters travelling to Sector 120 from the Noida Extension main road. The road was eroded a few years back due to heavy traffic movement on it. After the rains, the road lies partially submerged, owing to rainwater collected in the huge potholes on this road.

The 20-m road, which forces commuters to follow a zigzag pattern, has become a bigger threat owing to this waterlogging. People take the route to avoid travelling about an extra kilometre through the road in Sector 122. Several complaints have been lodged, but the authorities have not even lifted a finger to fix the problem.

Ved Prakash, a resident of Sector 120, said residents of societies such as Prateek Wisteria, Amrapali Zodiac and RG Residency have been using the road for the past few years now. Besides this, school buses packed with children take this road. "The potholes just keep growing bigger," said Prakash.

Residents were elated after Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath's assurances of smooth roads across the state. But their joy was short-lived, as the reality has been an eye-opener for them. The problem has not only persisted but also become worse. And the authorities continue to ignore the stretch.

An officer with Noida Authority claimed that the potholes had been repaired and the road was levelled before the monsoons. But the rains eroded the road again. The officer, on condition of anonymity, said the patch of road could not be relaid as they were in the process of acquiring land to widen it.
