Members of ANAWA, Army, Navy & Air force Wives’ Association, gathered at the JVCC club today to mark the beginning of Hariyali Teej.
Teej celebrations have begun... and ANAWA — Army, Navy & Air force Wives’ Association — is already having a ball! Members gathered at the Noida JVCC club today to mark the beginning of Hariyali Teej.
They laughed, they sang, they danced — they took the stage by storm!
Neena Jaggi, one of the senior members of the club, recalled, “The club began its journey 20 years back. We use cultural festivals as an opportunity to bond. Our husbands remain posted to remote reaches of the country, as we have little by way of entertainment. So this club gave us a chance to socialise.”
Aruna Sud, another senior member of the club, said, “Our members are very enthusiastic — they have come forward to perform on their own! It’s a great platform to showcase their latent talents, and certainly a whole lot of fun.”
She added, “We have two more events planned in the run-up to July 26, when Hariyali Teej will be celebrated across north India. It’s a festive way to celebrate and welcome the rains.”
Kavita Lohan, another member, chipped in, “I really enjoyed myself. A lot of our friends can play instruments beautifully — it was such a revelation. The whole event was packed with interesting performances.”
At the end of it all, club members took an oath to stop mismanagement of waste as far as possible, particularly during the monsoons when unattended garbage turns into a health hazard.
