Haryana police has arrested four former PVR Cinemas employees for cloning debit cards of customers.

The accused had obtained sophisticated card readers and writers from an online platform to carry out the fraud worth Rs 20 to 25 lakh. The accused had cloned more than 50 cards.

PVR representatives refused to comment on the matter.

A spokesman of the Police Department said that in May, one Drishti Bhasin had registered a complaint at the Sector 56 police station about Rs 50,000 being withdrawn  from her account through an ATM.

The police investigated the matter and arrested the accused, who was identified as Ajay Raghav, a resident of Uttar Pradesh, the kingpin of the gang. Sanjay, a resident of Rajasthan, Rahul Yadav, a resident of Kosli, district Rewari and Sonajit, a resident of DLF Phase IV, were the other members of the gang, who were arrested soon after.

He said that during interrogation, the accused admitted to having withdrawn money from bank accounts of other people through ATM after cloning more than 50 debit and credit cards. He said the accused had cloned debit and credit cards at PVR Gurgaon and various other places.

The spokesman said the equipment used to clone debit and credit cards, laptop and other equipment were recovered from the arrested. Further investigation in the case is under progress, he added.
