The girls were picked by the School Games Federation of India, which is responsible for overseeing school sports in India, and selecting students for representation at various national and international events.

Speaking to City Spidey, 16-year-old Navya Bajaj, Class XI student of The Shri Ram School (Aravali), said, “I consider myself extremely fortunate that I was selected by the Federation. I hope I can live up to their expectations.”

The winners were felicitated Evan Mehdi Fournier, player for Orlando Magic of the National Basketball Association (NBA).
