The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) on Tuesday conducted an hour-long mock drill at the Guru Dronacharya Metro station to check the preparedness for a terror attack. The force's bomb disposal and dog squads were also present at the drill.

Gurgaon police, Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) and Intelligence Bureau (IB) officials were also present for the drill, which started at 11 am. Frequent announcements about the mock drill were being made to prevent panic among the public.

“The DMRC officials received a staged call about a bomb being placed inside a bag at the Metro station," said a senior CISF official. "The DMRC officials alerted the CISF control room about the situation and the personnel rushed to the spot. The entire station was searched and the bag was recovered. The dog squad then sniffed the bag and confirmed it as a hoax.”

The CISF officials said the Metro service is used by hundreds of people every day, making it an easy target for terrorists. The officer said the drill helped in checking the preparedness in case of terror attacks, improve coordination among multiple agencies and decrease the response time.

Gurgaon police officials were stationed outside the Metro station to ensure smooth traffic flow during the drill, while the DMRC officials ensured that there was no disruption to their services.
