Indirapuram: A colony cleanliness drive, well begun

The arterial roads of Ahinsa Khand II look cleaner now after the Green Team’s first neighbourhood cleanliness drive. The drive was conducted on Sunday with residents of the Indirapuram neighbourhood who had joined hands under the banner of “Green Team”. The residents hailed from societies like Rishabh Cloud 9, Exotica Elegance, Ashiana Upvan, Angel Mercury, to name a few.

The residents had earlier planned a larger drive, to include cleaning of all arterial roads along with awareness activities like graffiti making for pet owners to clean up after the animals. However, members maintained that the initial plan could not be completed due to lack of manpower and the large amount of garbage strewn along the streets.

“Since it was the first day, we got a lot of experience. There was a lot of garbage and I think that we will have to conduct four such drives back to back and make it a routine affair to keep the neighbourhood neat and clean,” said Jayati Jain, a member of Green Team.

The team cleaned the stretch from the Delhi Public School in today’s drive and the next drive will be carried out on the stretch from Niho Scottish Gardens till Shanti Gopal Hospital.

Members also said that they were constantly spreading the word and hoping that more residents join in. They expressed gratitude to the Apartment Owners Associations, the maintenance staff, and the agencies that sponsored some of the articles required for the drive.
