Secret night visit to beloved pulls man to death in Nirala Eden Park

In a rather shocking and mysterious incident, a man was found lying injured under a shaft of a building in Nirala Eden Park, a residential high-rise in Indirapuram. The man was rushed to a nearby hospital by residents of the society, where doctors declared him brought dead. The incident took place at around the Wednesday midnight. The deceased has been identified as Ashish Gupta, a 30-year-old resident of Rajasthan, who had come to the society to visit his girlfriend.

According to the police, prima-facie the incident looks like a case of accidental death and the man fell from a 9th floor flat in Block-C of the society. Officials of the Indirapuram police station said the man had sneaked into one of the flat's rooms, which served as a paying guest accommodation for girls. His girlfriend was one of the girls living in the PG. “Some of the occupants of the flat raised an alarm, which forced Gupta to escape through the bathroom’s window and hide in the shaft while hanging on to the water pipelines. He lost his grip and fell straight to the concrete floor below,” said Vinit Kumar, in-charge of Kanauni police post.

According to sources, both Gupta and his girlfriend worked for a leading Hindi newspaper and had recently gotten engaged. They were also supposed to get married soon.

Speaking to City Spidey, members of the society's Apartment Owners Association (AOA) expressed insecurity and worry due to such commercial group living accommodations running in the residential society. “The incident is unfortunate, sad and disturbing. It has disrupted the otherwise peaceful state of the society and its residents,” said Kavita Mathur, president of the society’s AOA.

The incident was first discovered by the security guard posted at the block of the society. “The guard who usually sits right next to the shaft’s opening was taken aback by the loud thud, as Gupta's body hit the floor. "By the time I reached the place, other residents of the block had already taken the injured man to the hospital. I was always wary of such incidents due to PGs and have alerted the authorities a number of times,” Mathur added.

The AOA members of the society said that according to their findings, there were around 13 girls living in the 4 BHK flat of which, the deceased’s girlfriend was living in a separate room or the servant's quarter.

Police officials said there has been no formal complaint. The post-mortem has been conducted and the body has been handed over to family members. “The post-mortem report is awaited. For now, we do not suspect crime or foul play,” officials said.
