How's the eve of the FONRWA elections going in Noida?

Tomorrow will mark an important day for Noida, as the city’s RWAs vote for a new FONRWA team.

There are two teams with 21 candidates each for the executive body. One is led by NP Singh, the current president of FONRWA, and the other by Sukhdev Sharma, RWA president of Block B, Rajat Vihar. This is his first time contesting the polls.

The election will be held from 10 am to 1.30 pm. The counting of votes is expected to start at 3 pm in the FONRWA office in Sector 52, and results announced around 5 pm.

Satish Khurana, founder member of FONRWA, and KK Gautam, a former police officer, will be present as the election officers.

NP Singh told City Spidey that he was confident of their victory tomorrow. “Residents of Noida have seen our work. They know we have good relations with the government bodies and that we always raise resident problems,” he added.

Sukhdev Sharma, too, felt certain of his victory at the polls. “We are new blood; we have new ideas for the city,” he said. “NP Singh and his team are old. The city wants new members with new energy.”

When City Spidey contacted RWAs to get a feel of which side they were leaning towards, most said they were still unsure and that they would take a call tomorrow just before voting.

Gajendra Singh, president of Sector 55, said that though NP Singh’s panel was the more experienced one and that it had done a lot of good in its two-year term, it had not solved the issues of his sector. “Everybody wants change. So my vote will go to Sukhdev Sharma this time,” he told City Spidey.

There are 175 voters this time, and the electoral college includes presidents and general secretaries of all RWAs in the city, along with RWA representatives, life members and founder members.
