Power outage continues to plague Gurgaon Sector 17C residents

Nagging power cuts have become a way of life for residents of Sector 17, Gurgaon. From Friday evening, none of the households have power for the entire night and some areas, even after that.

For several hours there was no power, something that the residents continue to suffer from without respite.

But more than the acute power shortages, that result in outages frequently, the residents are angrier with the response of the DHVBN officials, who always remain unavailable in times of crisis. “The officials do not pick up our calls and neither do they update the RWA members on the status of the power or the status of the complaint,” said Vinita Rajpal, a resident of Sector 17 C. When reasons for power crisis are probed by residents, the officials simply stick to the excuse of ‘technical reasons’ for the same.

This year sector like 56, Ardee city, sector 31, 27, 28, 17, 14 and 15 have frequently been subjected to power cuts which have lasted for many hours. The residents feel that there is no uniform pattern of power cuts and it happens for hours at a stretch.

Explaining the issue, while O K Bharadwaj from DHVBN said, “A wire leading to the main transformer had a short circuit and hence there was no power.”

However, residents still maintain that irregular power crisis prevails and this puts their daily life completely out of gear.
