IPR charity event receives massive response

Over a 1,000 participants turned up for the 'Run for Runners' charity event organised by the Indirapuram Runners (IPR) group to deliver aid to a fellow runner today. Deepak Muduli, a member of IPR had slipped into coma after suffering a severe accident in March.

The event, which started at Indirapuram Habitat Center, saw massive participation from residents, fitness enthusiasts, cyclists and amateur runners alike.

Muduli's parents and wife Manjulika were part of the event. His wife flagged off the event which was divided into three different categories with distance variants of 3 km, 5 km and 10 km. "We have been receiving overwhelming response ever since we started spreading word about the event and the turn up was phenomenal," said one of the event organisers from IPR. "We never expected so many people will offer solidarity to our initiative."

Several people came from places as far as Bikaner, Allahabad, Kanpur and Meerut to mark their support for the event.

Speaking to City Spidey, Amit Das, a resident of Vasant Vihar in Delhi who had participated in his first marathon in the event, said it was an eye-opening experience for him. “It was nothing less than euphoric. I had heard about the event from my friend Nirmalendu and had felt it was a good cause,” Das added.

Manjulika Muduli expressed gratitude for the initiative. She said, "I am very happy with the way people have come forward to help us. Until now we had not receive any financial help from anywhere and I was managing everything but this day has come as a relief to our financial stress. The doctors have told us that Deepak has started responding to basic verbal instructions. We are hopeful."
