Fear wave sweeps across Gurgaon after robbers snatch SUV at gunpoint

Gurgaon is becoming very unsafe for its residents and to those from sectors 81,82, 83 and even 110A, located close to the NPR (Northern Peripheral Road). The Sunday incident of snatching of an SUV at gunpoint has sparked off a fresh wave of fear among residents. Some residents of these areas congregated outside the Kherki Dhaula Police station on Sunday to protest against increasing lawlessness after an SUV was stolen at gunpoint on Saturday night from Sector 83.

The incident took place with when Aman Puri, an IT executive, was purchasing items at a shop that was barely 300 m from his house. Three persons snatched the keys of his car after which they pushed him inside the car and drove off to an isolated location where he was thrown out from the car. He finally walked to the Kherki Dhaula Police station to file a complaint.

On Sunday morning, some residents of sectors 82 and 83 reached the police station to question them about the grave security problems that prevailed in the area. Considering that there were people around when the IT Executive was robbed of his car, no one came forward to help.

Inspector Yashwant Singh, SHO Kherki Dhaula, told City Spidey that “We are investigating the case and sections 397(robbery), 395 (kidnapping) and 356 (assault) of the Indian Penal Code have been registered.” He assured the residents that efforts will be made to step up security in the region. “We have dedicated a PCR to increase the patrolling in the area. We will also ask Vatika builders to instal CCTV cameras for increasing security,” he said.
