Gurgaon should brace itself for another spell of heavy rains in the coming days.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), heavy to very heavy rainfall is predicted for most parts of Himachal in next couple of days — Gurgaon, too, should expect heavy rains in the next 3-5 days.

In the last two days, the city has witnessed a maximum temperature of 30-33 °C while the minimum has been between 25-27 °C. The city was cloud-covered yesterday and several parts received rains.

The authorities have been put on high alert to avoid last year’s July rerun.

“There’s construction work happening everywhere. So many places have been left dug up. Rain-filled potholes can be dangerous for unsuspecting commuters,” said Sudhir Bhardwaj, RWA president, Sector 56.

Deputy commissioner Vinay Pratap Singh said, “We are closely monitoring the traffic situation at various points. We’ll have alternative arrangements in place if required.”

Besides having pumping machines ready to flush out excess water, the authorities have also deployed additional staff for better management.
