In yet another incident that underlines the need for police verification of all service employees, a trusted driver fled with cash and valuables of his employer, a businessman living in Block A, Sushant Lok I, Gurgaon. The incident took place on Tuesday. Sanjay Bakshi, the businessman, has lodged an FIR at the Sector 29 police station, ruing the fact that he trusted his driver so much that he never thought of getting a police verification done.

“I had always trusted him with cash and valuables," said Bakshi. "Little did I know he would betray my trust like this. Although I had his details, I now realise how important police verification is. I tried calling him but his number is switched off."

Bakshi runs a business of readymade apparels in DLF Phase I. He had employed his driver four years ago. The driver stayed with the Bakshi family at their house; and the driver's wife is a teacher at Sehwag International School, where their son also studies.

On Tuesday morning, Bakshi gave him Rs 3 lakh to deposit in the bank but he fled with the money and some apparels. He was last seen at an auto stand in the city.

Some sources have informed that he had purchased a new mobile and taken a new SIM card about four days back.
