CCTV surveillance: A necessity, not a luxury any more

CCTV cameras are no longer high-end frills — they have become a necessary tool in the battle against rising incidents of crimes.

CCTV surveillance: A necessity, not a luxury any more

CCTV cameras are no longer extra amenities, but necessities — a point amply proven in the recent burglary incident in Sector 46, Gurgaon.

In two more incidents in the same sector, two autos had made away with valuables left by the commuters. The RWA was contacted, and they were able to provide the registration numbers of the autos, since they had number-plate-reader cameras. The police traced the auto drivers within two hours.

Similarly, CCTV footage from the neighbour’s home and the RWA revealed some vital leads for the recent burglary.

Speaking to City Spidey, Raj Kumar Yadav, RWA president, Sector 46, said, “Installing CCTV cameras was one of the initial steps we took. We even have them in our main parks, where a lot of people visit. RWAs in other sectors too must realise the importance of installing CCTVs. They should not be left defunct — they can play a big part in nabbing criminals.”
