Taking advantage of rain, Gaur Green City residents plant saplings

Residents who could not participate in last month’s tree-planting drive took advantage of the Sunday rains to plant some 100 saplings in and around the neighbourhood.

Taking advantage of the rainy season, residents of Gaur Green City in Indirapuram conducted a tree-planting drive inside and outside the society premises on Sunday.

A resident, Ruchi Sharma, who is also an AOA member, told City Spidey that “we had to carry out the plantation drive because of the rains”.

Some 50 residents, including youth and the aged, participated in the drive that included planting saplings along the society boundary walls and on the central verge of the road in front of the society. “We had procured 100 plants from GDA, and the AOA bought another 50 plants for the drive. Today we could plant 50 saplings only due to lack of manpower and insufficient time,” Sharma said.

Residents of the society said that the drive would carry on for the next few days, so all the saplings can be planted. The residents will adopt plants, so they can survive and grow.
