Have the police uncovered something in the Armaan Sehgal case?

Ghaziabad police attempted to arrest Ankur Malhotra, chairman of GD Goenka school in Indirapuram, in the Armaan Sehgal case early this morning. Armaan's parents had lodged an FIR against the school management on August 1.

Ghaziabad police raided Malhotra’s residence in Priyadarshini Vihar of East Delhi’s Lakshmi Nagar during the wee hours. However, the police had to leave empty handed, as Malhotra was not available at home and is absconding.

Malhotra lives in a two-storey building in B block of Priyadarshini Vihar. The ground floor of the building has been rented out, and Malhotra and his family live on the upper floors. Umesh Kumar Tuteja, the tenant who claimed to be the occupant of the ground floor for the past four and half years, said Malhotra had not come home ever since the day the incident took place. Malhotra's parents were last seen in the house between 8 pm and 9pm last night.

Officials of the Indirapuram police station said they could not enter the flat as they did not have a search warrant and they found the doors to both the floors locked. The second floor lights were on all morning.

Restless relatives and parents of Armaan stood by the entire time the cops were there in hopes to see Malhotra in cuffs. The parents also broke into a heated argument with the tenant and Malhotra's neighbours for a short while.

Armaan's parents and relatives said the entire attempt to arrest Malhotra was a farce.

Police's springing into action five days after the incident, however, could mean new findings in the case. Although the police remained tight lipped about any new development, they said they were waiting for the forensics report and attempts are being made to arrest Malhotra.

Meanwhile, Bharti Singh, wife of BJP MP Gen VK Singh, met the grieving parents at their home late in the afternoon and assured justice and swift action.
