Is Amrapali selling its Noida Sector 62 office?

The news, which has been doing the rounds for quite some time, has prompted Amrapali buyers to stage a hunger strike to seek the intervention of the prime minister and the UP chief minister.

Is Amrapali selling its Noida Sector 62 office?

The Amrapali office in Sector 62, Noida, may be up for auction. The news, which has been doing the rounds for quite some time, has Amrapali buyers feeling jittery.

Buyers say they are living in rented homes and paying hefty EMIs. Now, with the news of the auction, their hopes have been dashed.

Satish Kumar, a buyer of Amrapali Dream Valley, told City Spidey, “Buyers are planning a hunger strike. I don’t think we’ll ever get our flats — we have invested our life's earnings into buying homes, and now we are left with nothing.”

He added that the strike was intended to get the attention of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. A team, he said, would also be sent to Lucknow to meet the CM.

The buyers had also gone to Greater Noida Authority to find out the status of the tower-wise report the builder was supposed to submit following a triparty meeting on May 31. “The builder had to submit the balance sheet of the past three years, a tower-wise report, the number of units sold and unsold, the financial status of the project and a report on its basic amenities,” Kumar said.

As most buyers feared, the builder had not done so.

The builder had launched Amrapali Green Valley in 2009, with 47 towers in Tech Zone 4. It was to construct 12,000 flats — of which 8,000 have already been sold.

The Amrapali Group is yet to deliver 27,000 units in Greater Noida West. In Noida, the builder has delivered 8,500 flats of 11,000 units — but without basic facilities.

Annu Khan, president of Noida Extension Flat Owners’ Main Association (NEFOMA), told City Spidey that Anil Sharma, CMD of Amrapali Group, had mailed him in response to reports on Zee News that the Amrapali CMD was eager to file for bankruptcy.

The mail read: “Amrapali Group strongly denies these absurd and baseless allegations. We would like to inform that our Corporate Tower 1 is fully operational and continues to be our head office and point of contact for one and all. Corporate Tower 2 is not functional due to operational reasons. The organisation is thoroughly committed to its responsibilities towards its esteemed customers, and we will continue to strive for completion of our projects. Also, the group is in touch with Noida and Greater Noida authority to resolve all the other issues. The allegations regarding funds misuse and loans to the tune of Rs 19,000 crore are totally false; and also we are in talks with our banking partners for mutually amicable solutions. It is extremely shocking and unnerving and unfair on the part of Zee News to disseminate wrong information to our customers and create distrust amongst buyers and other stakeholders. As a part of responsible journalism, Zee News should have verified all the facts before airing.”

So what are the buyers to believe?
