CONRWA chastises Noida Authority CEO for waterlogging

The Confederation of NCR Residents Welfare Associations, or CONRWA, launched a scathing attack on Noida Authority for its failure to prevent a flood-like situation in several sectors this year again.

Mincing no words, the body wrote to Noida Authority CEO, criticising the functioning of its officers. It also demanded a course correction.

PS Jain, CONRWA president, said that the Authority spends huge sums of money every year on monsoon preparedness, but a few hours of rain and the truth is exposed.

This time, he said, around 20 residential pockets witnessed flood-like situation.

Pointing out the inadequacies, he said, “The drains are not properly aligned, and thus waterlogging is inevitable. Moreover, the Authority made no attempts to clean up the chocked drains ahead of the rains. It used tubewell to pump out the excess water from waterlogged homes. But that’s not a permanent solution. It is just a temporary measure to divert attention from the real issue of watelogging.”

He continued, “The Authority should hold concerned officers accountable for waterlogging in their respective areas. They should chalk out a plan to offer residents a concrete solution. Each officer should be allotted two residential sectors. They are to be held responsible for averting a flood-like situation.”
