NEFOWA plans a protest against Amrapali Group tomorrow

Buyers who have invested in flats by Amrapali Group in Noida and Greater Noida have decided to stage a protest outside the Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority office tomorrow

The protest will take place under the banner of Noida Extension Flats Owner Welfare Association (NEFOWA).

Buyers said the builder had compelled them to hit the streets, as the authorities had failed to provide any solution to their problems. Members of the association were hopeful that the tripartite meetings would help resolve the builder-buyer issues, but they did not result in a positive outcome.

Shweta Bharti, the general secretary of NEFOWA, said, “All we received were empty promises and assurances. The authorities know that the builders have snubbed their orders, but have not taken any action against them. We are done with their assurances. We want results now. We want Amrapali to give possession of our flats.”

Reports of the bank auctioning the builder's corporate office in Sector 62, Noida, has further fuelled the apprehension of buyers, especially those who have bought flats in incomplete projects. The construction of these projects was halted because of a financial crunch.

"At the protest tomorrow, we will demand Greater Noida Authority to determine whether the builder has enough funds to complete the stalled projects," said Bharti. "We will also ask officers in the authority to allow the builder to complete the projects with the help of co-developers to ensure quicker delivery. We have come to know that the builder is willing to complete the projects along with its partners, but the authority is not allowing it."
