Power snapped for AVG Heights in GreNo

Noida Power Company Limited (NPCL) has snapped power supply to AVG Heights, a residential society in Greater Noida, from today morning.

The reason? Non-payment of bills to the tune of crores. The society, located in Sector Zeta 1, owes Rs 2.31 crore to NPCL. A meeting was held in this regard between the builder and NPCL yesterday, but it failed to have any outcome. The builder's representatives had asked for another one-and-a- half months, but NPCL refused.

NPCL officials arrived at the society today and stopped power supply to the society, leaving 1,200 families in a lurch.

Sarnath Ganguly, NPCL GM, confirmed the same.

“We have been contacting the builder and the residents for several months now, but the outstanding amount has not been deposited yet. The company had given time to the builder until Wednesday,” he added.

According to NPCL sources, while the society generates a monthly bill of around Rs 30 lakh, the builder pays only Rs 4-5 lakh per month.

Alok Kumar, a resident, said, “The residents have not yet formed an RWA, and the maintenance is still being handled by the builder. But the residents had been diligently paying their bills on time. It is the builder who has been delaying payments to the NPCL.”

Mohammed Aatir, another resident, complained, “The lifts are not working now! People living on the higher floors are badly affected, and the heat is killing us.”

Residents plan to approach Greater Noida Authority and the district magistrate if the builder failed to clear the payments immediately.
