Gurgaon Sector 83 has a police post, but what about a police station?

After the recent theft of an SUV at gunpoint, residents of this sector are persisting in their demand for a police station.

Gurgaon Sector 83 has a police post, but what about a police station?

After antisocial elements stole an SUV at gunpoint from a resident of Sector 83, Gurgaon, people living in the sector have been worried about the existing security arrangements and have demanded a police station from the authorities — for not just their sector but for sectors 81 through 85.

In response to this demand, a new police post has been inaugurated for Sector 83. It is hoped that this post will help in monitoring the area at a swifter pace. In addition to this, two PCRs have been donated by a developer. These vans, along with the installation of CCTV cameras by societies, will aid in more effective patrolling of the area. Moreover, the head count of security guards has also been increased for tighter vigilance.

Speaking about the development, Sandeep Khirwar, IPS, Commissioner of Police, said “We’re always happy to help the residents and want to assure them that we’re taking serious steps to improve the law-and-order situation. The CM is also determined to open more such posts in the new Gurugram area. This will precede future initiatives for achieving bigger objectives.”

Deepika Malik, a resident of Sector 83, said, “This police post was much needed. But we must have a police station too.”

A team of Gurugram police had earlier visited the spot and inspected the site, which had already been earmarked for setting up the proposed police station.
