Dwarka: 10,000 saplings this monsoon!

A tree-planting drive organised recently at Dwarka’s DDA Park in Sector 6 witnessed significant participation from schoolchildren and women.

People of all age groups from the locality planted saplings and took a pledge to adopt a plant and promote a greener and cleaner environment.

The school students also got an opportunity to interact with ‘Peepal Baba’, the eminent environment enthusiast who has planted millions of trees.

The luminary had graced the occasion to encourage and acknowledge the efforts of the people participating in the drive.

Sukarman, a social organisation, was one of the event organisers. Sumit Maluja, founder of Sukarman, and a resident of Appu Enclave in Sector 12, informed that a series of tree-planting drives would be organised in Dwarka, under which about 10,000 trees would be planted.

This event is the start of this campaign. "Encouraged by the response to our previous campaigns, we have taken this ambitious target to plant 10,000 trees this monsoon. We have already had discussions with the concerned officers of the municipal corporation and the DDA while planning our schedule, and they have pledged full support. We have also talked to area councillors. We invite more schools and residents of Dwarka to be a part of this campaign,” urged Maluja.
