Dwarka, Sec 7: Residents want better maintenance of the open gym

Thankful for the open gym in the neighbourhood park, residents want it properly maintained, and also hope the corporation will facilitate lighting for the entire park.

Dwarka, Sec 7: Residents want better maintenance of the open gym

Residents of different societies of Sector 7, Dwarka, want proper maintenance of the open-air gym that was opened with much fanfare in the area. They also want lighting in the park to be improved and grass to be pruned regularly, so daily visitors don't have to suffer from mosquito and insect bites.

Things get worse in the rainy season when there's waterlogging in the park. This makes the gym unusable, complain residents.

Nimisha Garg, a resident of Young Aheria Apartments, Sector 7, said, “This gym area should be maintained. I use the gym and it is used by many residents during morning and evening walks. Its floor must be made like the floors in the gyms of DDA in Dwarka. If they do so, there would be no problem even if it rains. The grass should also be pruned properly, so that visitors can get the right surroundings to exercise.”

On Saturday, area councillor Aman Kumar and former area councillor Seema Pandit visited the open-air gym, when residents requested the leaders to facilitate lighting up the central park area, too. At present, the open gym area is lighted, which is located in one corner of the park. The park is maintained by the SDMC.

General secretary of Senior Citizens' Association and a resident of Harsukh Apartments, Ravi Jaitely, said, “We are thankful to the area councillor that the gym area has been illuminated. But now, we want lights in the main park. This is a popular park, but lacks maintenance. The corporation should light up the entire area.”

Councillor Aman Kumar said he had written a letter to the department for getting rubber flooring for the open gym area. The councillor said he has been pursuing the issue of lighting for central park with the concerned department.
