Noida Authority officials carried out an anti- encroachment drive yesterday in Sectors 74, 75 and 76. The measure was taken in view of the growing complaints from the residents of the area.
This drive was conducted by the encroachment cell of Noida Authority.
Several societies such as Supertech Capetown, Grand Ajnara Heritage and others have been repeatedly complaining to the authorities about the menace of encroachment and the traffic jams on the stretch.
All makeshift shops on the stretch leading up to the high-rises were demolished. According to officials, about 20 shops were removed.
Shiv Kumar, a hawker who sold vegetables and fruits, lamented, “My source of income is gone due to this encroachment drive. What am I to do now?”
Rakesh Singh, a resident of Grand Ajnara Heritage in Sector 74, said, “We had complained to Noida Authority several times. Finally, it is being done. People coming to these shops would park their vehicles on the road causing jams!”
