FONRWA writes to CM on common civic issues

Federation of Noida RWAs (FONRWA), the apex body of city RWAs, has written to UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, demanding the resolution of common issues concerning Noida citizens.

Among other things, FONRWA demanded recognition of RWAs, establishment of exclusive municipal divisions, public representation on Noida Board, conversion of leasehold land into free-hold land and solid-waste management.

NP Singh, FONRWA president, told City Spidey one of their basic demands included legal recognition and financial powers for RWAs.

He complained, “RWAs do the same work as elected representatives. Yet, we don't have any powers. Even the Village Development Welfare Association is proposed to get legal recognition and financial powers to develop civic amenities. It’s unfair that RWAs are not entitled to such powers from the state government.”

Another refrain from the apex body: There are no municipal divisions in Noida Authority. “FONRWA wants municipal divisions to be set up in Noida Authority, so that civic and municipal services in Noida can improve,” Singh said.

Representation on Noida Board was another important issue addressed in the letter, which said at least two representatives from FONRWA should be made a part of Noida Board.

According to FONRWA, even though it has been 40 years since the city of Noida came into existence, the system of lease-hold property continues till date. “The residents of the city, therefore, still feel insecure. A majority of the allottees in Noida have already paid one-time lease rent. Hence, this 99-year lease is gross injustice towards the residents. Successive governments in the past have simply used the promise for elections. It is high time this demand was addressed," Singh said.

And finally on the issue of waste management, Singh said, “There is no yard for the dumping of garbage. As a result, garbage collected from homes is thrown on the pavements or on vacant plots — and this is a serious health hazard.”
